1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL
SOLD
VIN # 121042B0521
$32,500 OBO
Early production 1958 190SL (#521), fully restored. Previous owner owned since 1989, had the car fully restored, and rarely drove the car afterwards. It sat for over a year, and I have re-built the carbs, starter, and installed a new aluminized exhaust with resonator, muffler, and chrome tip. The riveted-on frame and engine tags are corroded and somewhat hard to read, but close inspection reveals that they match the stamped #'s. I have the owner's manual and vintage Mercedes parts catalog, a clear title in my name for the car, and I also have the data card with the vehicle info that I ordered from Mercedes-Benz.

The original paint code on the tag is 608, elfenbein (ivory). The previous owner had the car re-painted red.

The body stamp number matches the tag number

stamp- 042-85-00261
tag- A 121 042-8500261

The chassis stamp number and tag number also match

stamp- 121 042 H(?) 500521
tag- XXX XX 85 XX521

The engine has a build year of 1959, which is most probably not original, but is the period correct 921 version. The stamp and tag also match.

stamp- 121 921 -10- 9502200
tag (very hard to read, but you can make out the same numerals as above
