The car was purchased new in Phoenix AZ, and the owners followed the scheduled service maintenance as indicated in the books. These were carried out at Cavallino Classics in Scottsdale. The 12.5K service was done at Bob Wallace Cars, an authorized Ferrari shop in Scottsdale AZ. They replaced the timing belts, front brakes, rebuilt the water pump, as well as all the other scheduled maintenance stuff.
The car was sold in 1990 through a dealer in MO (Corporate Coachworks) to Dr. Don Carpenter of Jackson, MS, who owned it until his death in I believe 1997 or 1998. The car was sold through his estate to Gene Phillips, also of Jackson, who was the last owner before me. Ricky Dixon, who was a factory mechanic at Hallmark BMW until he started his own shop, performed the major service work on the 308 for Mr. Phillips in his time of ownership. This included having a new Pioneer radio installed, new window motors, rear brakes, the AC was reworked, and a full service and tune-up (including yet another timing belt change, tensioners, expansion tank, valve adjustment and new plugs, all accessory drive belts, fuel and air filters, breather hoses and intake boot ), which was performed 2000 miles ago. I have the receipt from that as well, and spoke with Ricky about it before I bought it. Last month, less than 500 miles ago, (mechanic that I am...) I purged the coolant, changed the motor oil and filter (Baldwin 253 and Castrol GTX 20W50, as well as the gearbox fluid (Swepco 80W90).
A few more exterior details...all glass is perfect, no chips or scratches anywhere. All rubber weatherstrips and seals are perfect, no rips, tears, or evidence of cracking or dry-rot, they are as-new. The body/paint is excellent, no door dings or waves anywhere. A few very minor paint chips, in-line with age and mileage. No evidence of touch-ups. Absolutely no evidence of rust/corrosion, always in AZ and MS. All lights/electrics work perfectly.
I'll add more info/pics in the not to distant future...
