I still have to get the story straight on this one...this truck is a family heirloom. I know it used to belong to my uncle Mike, and now belongs to my uncle Bill, who had the good presence of mind to tuck this baby away somewhere safe. It's been sitting indoors for several years, and hasn't been cranked since it was parked. Unfortunately, he didn't have the presence of mind to do the same for his other Bronco, which is now languishing in the weeds rusting a little more every day. It is also alot further gone than this one. I'll post some pics of ol' Blue too, because eventually I will talk Bill into restoring it as well.

I can remember bouncing around the backs of both Broncos at the deer camp at Glasscock Island on the Mississippi River back in the late '70's early '80's. Things that stick out in my mind were Olivia Newton-John, Hank Jr. (A Country Boy Can Survive) and Waylon Jennings (Amanda, the Light of My Life). I am fairly certain that is where Amanda Poole got her name, and I remember listening to the 8-track over and over upon her arrival into this world. I am also still recovering from the psychological scars of waking up with painted fingernails, along with cousin Shane, suffered at the hands of our female cousins one early morning at the camp. (Girls at deer camp? Sacriledge!) I am actually quite surprised to find this Bronco as clean and in as good shape as it is in considering all the mud-slinging it has been through. I've dubbed it Taz, because it will definitely be a Tazmanian Devil in short order.

At any rate, I am still in negotiations with Bill to "acquire" this gem. It's a 2-way street: cheap transportation for me, and free labor for Bill as I polish this baby back into shape. As of now, my Ranger is up for sale. I have a feeling that he will want to re-posess Taz once I am finished with it, so I will have to make sure that ol' Blue (#2) is prepared for the same TLC. We'll bring that one back from the dead, too. He can keep that one. I won't begin to go into the details of what all will find its way on the pair, but for some teasers, check out the following websites:
