| This is a very solid car, less than 48,000 miles, always in the south, no rust or corrosion. The body has a few dings, and the clearcoat is flaking in a few places. I was beginning to prep it for paint, but have yet to find the time to finish. The rear decklid has been primed, blocked, painted, and re-blocked, and will need to be finished. The pics on the webpage represent it's current state. If interested, I can email a few detail pics of the paint quality. I drive the car frequently, and have taken it on 4 hour round trips and it has never faltered, no mechanical issues that I have experienced. The speedo is intermittent, and I have replaced the sending unit/pulse generator, but it still skips out. It's most likely a grounding issue, typical of all Jags. The tach is also not working, although I was preparing to ship it off for repair at a price of $135. All other gauges work fine; the car ALWAYS runs cool, and has excellent oil pressure. It's been well-maintained mechanically. The valve covers appear to seep a bit at the rear, which will collect in the valley between the eng/trans, but it is minor. There are no other leaks. I replaced the shock bushings, brakes, the steering rack bushings, the power antenna, the decklid struts, it's been recently serviced, and I also installed a new Alpine AM/FM/CD player. The interior is in good overall condition. The dash is perfect, the leather shows typical wear for age/mileage with no tears, only a few wrinkles/cracks, the carpets are good although the binding is loose on the pass. footwell piece. The dash wood is good overall, with a few hairline cracks in the clear finish. The console ski-slope wood is warped and cracked and could use replacing. The headliner looks aged, and has a few tears. The convertible top is excellent, and works properly. There is a boot for the top with the car, although I have never put it on. The tires have only a few thousand miles and look new. The horn works intermittently (bad ground again), the windows work fine, the AC needs to be charged. The car has a clean Carfax and shows no signs of damage/wrecks. I have the owner's manual as well. The car has a clean Mississippi title in my name with no liens. Also included is the Jaguar factory service and shop manuals on CD, with much of it having been printed and put in 3-ring binders. The 600-page XJS bible by Kirby Palm goes with it as well, also in two 3-ring binders. NADA book value ranges from $10,800-$13,700. |
